4 Oct: The clubs first Bristol open doubles league match got off to a rocky start with traffic causing opponents to arrive late. We just about squeezed in everything except the final rubber (which had to stop half way through the third end). However it was a successful evening with a 4-2 win against Bristol and District Open 3's.
9 Oct: Doubles A were home vs close rivals and previous season winners, Corsham A. Corsham were unfortunately missing one of their top six, and we came away with an 8-1 win. 9 Oct: Mixed C had a match against Bradford Penmoor, a team with very strong ladies for division 2! The team did well to secure a 6-3 victory. 16 Oct: Mixed A vs B ended with a 8-1 win for the A team, with the B's putting up a strong battle! 23 Oct: Doubles A vs B (2nd match of 3). Once again a few close games, but eventually a 9-0 win for the A's. 23 Oct: Doubles C had their debut match. A number of players unable to make it, but we still managed a full team and had a strong showing with a 7-2 over Frome B who were relegate from division two last season. Thanks very much to the four players who stood in! The club has played its first matches of the 2024-25 season with success already!
25 Sept: Doubles A vs B ended in a 9-0 win for the A's although the B's fought hard losing one rubber 21-19 in the third end! 30 Sept: Mixed C played Corsham B away and came away with a 6-3 victory. 2 oct: Mixed B played newly formed Frome A and were unlucky to lose 5-4. The 5 rubbers lost included three which went to a third end, and one of the was 25-23 in the third! 3 Oct: Mixed A made the journal to Writhlington to play Freshford and had a decisive 9-0 win. The Bristol league open team plays it's first match tonight! Chippenham 23 players have seen recent success in circuit tournaments over the summer period so far.
On 19 May, Chris teamed up with old university friend Max Northfield at the Dorset Tier 4 Open Doubles. Despite making hard work for themselves with some unnecessary three enders, they came away with gold. On 15 June, Bex and Rich played the Somerset Bronze mixed doubles. They dispatched all their opposition in straight sets to take gold. Back at Dorset on 22 June for another Tier 4, Sophie Robinson played the Women's singles after getting a bronze medal at Warrick the week before. This time Sophie did one better and make the final. The final was two close games and Sophie came away with a silver medal. Photo 1: Max and Chris left. Photo 2: Rich and Bex. Photo 3: Sophie left. After a seven week closure, Sheldon School Sports Hall reopens on 24 June and we have club night on that day, 8-10pm.
After that, our next club night is Wednesday 3 July 8-10pm, and we revert to our usual summer club on Wednesdays at this time. Visitors are welcome to attend for £6.50 per session over the summer, but please send a message through the website contact form, (or contact a member of the committee) before you come along! Sheldon School sports hall is closed for exams from now until 24 June. Please see below a list of our upcoming sessions:
