The final two matches of the season have now been played.
13 May: County league away vs Stratton Polska. The team travelled to New College in Swindon and made a big impact, winning the match 9-0. 24 May: The County league team were away again against Laverstock. Once again we shows our strength with an 8-1 win! There is still a County league match between Swindon and Stratton to be played, however it's result cannot affect the standings. I am pleased to report that Chippenham 23 have topped the county league for the 2021-22 season. This is testament to the quality of our players and the depth we have within the club. Well done to all the players that participated in the county league matches. In order of appearance: Men Ladies Ed Claire Rich Bex Jack Holly Chris Hannah Mark Lauren This weekend saw two of our players attend a tier 4 tournament in Milton Keynes.
Ed and Chris played in the men's doubles on Saturday. After winning a tough three ender in their first match, they then faced the pair who would be the eventual runner's up of the competition. Ed and Chris took them all the way, but lost 21-16 in the third end which saw them out of the competition after the group stage. They both played in the singles on Sunday. The standard was extremely high and they both did well to win one and lose one in their respective groups. Some photos of the singles action below! The mixed B team played the final of the knock out handicap cup on 3 May, away at John of Gaunt School in Trowbridge. The team were missing a player, but many thanks to Holly for the stand in!
The team had a 50 point deficit to catch up over 18 games, and therefore needed to win 21-18 on average. The team stepped up to the challenge, with only one game dropped over the course of the night. The final score was 340 - 299. Many thanks to Phoenix B for some great games! |
